Exercises

Dear friends,

here you will find some exercises that can help you dive deeper inside.

I suggest that you reserve at least 10 minutes a day for your inner well being.

The best time is in the morning. And before going to sleep you can feel PEACE for 5 minutes- this can be with music.

When still in bed in the morning try this exercise:

Each morning as you wake up observe what your first thoughts are! This will help your awareness. If you can – smile and feel a sense of gratitude.

Then get up take a shower etc. and before breakfast sit down at your meditation place (a holy corner or spot or shrine in your home equipped with a candle, maybe incense and a picture or symbol of something or someone inspiring you for meditation).

OCEAN OF SILENCE AND PEACE

You can sit either on a chair or on the floor.

For 1 minute breathe slowly and consciously focusing on your heart centre. You can also repeat a mantra like OM for some time. This can also be done in silence.

Imagine that you exist only in your heart, feeling as if you were at the bottom of the ocean. The mental world is high above like the waves of the ocean – they do not touch you. Then feel that you are breathing through your heart centre and stay connected to the point where the breath goes through your heart centre.

Try to feel Peace and Silence there – and enjoy those moments, for around 5-7 minutes.

Whenever a thought comes – let it rise up to the surface – it does not touch you.

You can end with repeating 3x OM to come back.

Always allow 30-60 seconds to assimilate the meditation experience before getting up.

THE POWER OF SOUND

In almost all religions and spiritual traditions the use of sound is very common.

This excercise is very simple but very powerful as well.

In our classes we usually either use the mantra OM or Supreme. Repeating this for a few minutes can help you feel your heart centre and also helps to be more free from the mental world. It also connects you to a higher vibration an a universal consciousness.

We also sing some very simple Sanskrit mantras which have a similar effect and embody a specific quality and power. You can find a selection of those mantras on www.radiosrichinmoy.org. When you search for “meditation mantras” yyou will get a choice of groups and mantric songs you can choose from: https://www.radiosrichinmoy.org/?s=meditation+mantras

As with a one word mantra you simply repeat those songs as many times as you want and without using the mind you can receive amazing results from this excercise.

I usually use a guitar as a background. You can also try other instruments and see what gives you joy and inspiration. It works just as well only with your voice.

Enjoy 🙂

The Power of Identification

One excercise is to identify with a Spiritual Person or Master. You can choose a picture that you feel drawn to – e.g. Buddha, Jesus, Krishna, Sri Ramakrishna etc.

If you wish to try this with a picture of Sri Chinmoy You can go to www.srichinmoyphoto.com and print out the one that inspires you.

Then while breathing in and out slowly and deeply you again enter into your heart and from the heart look at the picture. Here you do not have to do anything else, as the consciousness of the Master will help you inwardly to feel His presence and receive His Blessings. These you can feel as Love, Peace, Light, Joy and Happiness.

The Master is nothing else but your own higher self – so by the power of identification you will be able to feel your own self.

This reality is always present and is ever ready to guide and inspire you!

MUSINGS

“High, higher and highest is the plane of Delight. With our illumined consciousness, we rise into that plane and become self-enraptured. Having crossed the corridors of sublime silence and trance, we are now one with the Supreme.”
— Sri Chinmoy, from the book: The summits of God-Life: Samadhi and Siddhi
